T he latest updates on my Debian Lenny, have hurt him as starting the computer appeared to me the window that reads "Failed to initialize HAL. # Update-rc.d-f dbus remove

# Update-rc.d-f hal remove

# Update-rc.d dbus defaults

# Update-rc.d hal defaults

did not work, it appeared after restarting the usual window. The solution was much simpler and that is to re-install HAL.
