M i have finally decided to change the DNS of Alice with those of OpenDNS, because last time I had frequent problems with the loading of pages. I have a 20 mega Alice (very hypothetical, since they are far from the central and the lines are crap) and sincerely when I open a page that I opened in a flash or so, but that ultimately did not happen, because sometimes you have to wait a 15-20 seconds, even if the speed test was normal. I realized the problem of DNS, when I ping google.it and then directly address:
ping-c 6 www.google.it
ping-c 6 209.85.135.103
So at this point I was forced to replace them with these:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
The procedure to be done for the replacement is this:
root:
gedit / etc / resolv.conf
and add the two addresses of OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220) commenting # the / or present. Then:
cp / etc / resolv.conf / etc / resolv.conf.auto
gedit / etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf
the "prepend domain-name-servers" replace it with this:
prepend domain-name-servers 208.67.222.222,208.67.220.220;
save and
& & ifdown eth1 sudo ifup eth1
eth1 in my case, and replace if necessary.
Now everything is going wonderfully, so for now I will keep the DNS to OpenDNS, which I think are quite fast. In the future, who knows, moreover, if it goes on like this, with the increasing need for ADSL, with power so old and without maintenance, it will collapse for sure.

I also used in the past instead of the OpenDNS DNS Alice, but it created problems when trying to access the mail site of the same Alice and eventually I had to revert to the Telecom.
PS I am in an area so unlucky that they give me a 4mega and they charge me like a 20mega ... considers lucky :-)

If the problem is related only to the services Alice, I do not care, mail the exhaust directly from Gmail for all my accounts. Regarding the speed never exceeds the 8 mega:) Hello

I have a router and I tried to change it (of course on the router and 'a little' more 'simple).
Before those Alice can not start the porn youtube (I had to click several times or wait minutes before the start) now have a splinter.
The same defect presented with ZioBudda that before changing the DNS to load slowly.

I too have had some problems, especially using VNC and other services a bit 'more unusual e-mail ... I also tried the dns Fastweb but created problems with irc at the expense of a modest delay (compared to that given by the dns telecom is gold!) and an ease in navigation modestly better ...
In short, I returned to my loved ones I get DNS from the router automatically and telecom (who was believed to have a loser for only 4 megs? I do not carry more than 2 !!!!) I change from time to Tano (I checked, are not always the same) ...
